Meet Thumper - Injured Cat Found with Leghold Trap Caught on his Leg!!!

posted:  03/19/2008

Thumper is a stray kitty cat found in Madison County, Kentucky with a Hunter's INHUMANE Leghold Trap caught on his front leg.  This poor cat surely suffered greatly in pain and agony for who knows how long before he was found and brought to the attention of the Humane Society, A.L.L.

Thumper's front leg bone was crushed beyond belief and all the surrounding tissues were dead or dying.  His leg had to be amputated in order for the cat to survive without further complications.  Successful surgery was performed on March 19, 2008 by Doctor Taylor at Barnes Mill Animal Hospital.

Thumper will be put up for adoption after he heals and great care will be given to find this sweet and affectionate cat a safe, indoor, permanent home.

Thumper Update!

posted:  03/28/2008

Thumper continues to do well, with only some minor issues. We have put him back on light pain medication as we think he might be experiencing some random discomfort, maybe from nerve endings.  For the most part he rests a lot but does have a very healthy appetite.  This little guy went through a very traumatic experience, so we give him all the time he needs to heal and trust again.

Here are some new pictures, post surgery, including one of the ghastly trap that was found on his leg.

Special thanks to all the kind and compassionate people that donated towards Thumper's bill.  We are very grateful to you all.  Thanks to you, Thumper's life was able to be saved.

If you would like further updates on Thumper's condition or if you are interested in adopting Thumper, please contact Eve Secrist at 859-624-4277 or Email.  An adoption application form will be required and an adoption fee will apply.

Two Kittens Need a Chance

These guys are approximately 10 months old.  Both are males.  Both are already neutered and up to date on all their shots.  They are seeking a responsible, indoor only home.  An adoption fee will apply.

If you are considering a kitten, but not an itty bitty one, please consider one or more of us!  We really need a chance as our start in life was not so great!!

If interested in one or more of these cuties, please contact Vicki at 859-582-9466 or Email.

Wonderful Dog Needs a Wonderful Home

Tucker is a very loving dog, who enjoys being with people and other dogs as well. He is not a hunting dog, but needs a loving home that will provide him with lots of love and attention. He is leash trained, and will sit when asked to do so. He is looking for a large fenced in yard with lots of room to run and play, and a nice, big dog house. Tucker is a very sweet dog, he's just had a hard beginning, but he is looking for that special family that he deserves. He is close to one year old and we believe he is a Coon Hound mix.

He is up to date on all of his shots and has been neutered. The cost to adopt Tucker is $115, (just the cost to get his shots and neuter).

St. Bernard Mix Needs Home or Rescue

Lucky

'Big Al' is a gentle giant.  He is about 1 1/2 yrs old now and when a pup was left to roam free and basically feed himself.  He was left alone a lot and let to come and go from the house via a back window.  The neighbors complained and threatened to shoot him and then the family moved from the subdivision.  They left "Big Al" and a companion dog at the empty house.  Al is St Bernard and some type of lab mix (perhaps yellow lab) and is very large.  He has very short fur but has the coloration of what you would think of typical of a St. Bernard.  He is  kind with kids and loves to play and guard them.  He gets along with other dogs as long as they don't try to boss him or pick a fight then he will defend himself as a last resort.  His drawbacks are of course his size but also he has a separation anxiety.  As long as he is with someone 24/7 he is the perfect gentle dog however when left to himself (whether locked in a room or in a yard) he will try his best to get out.  If in a room he will go through a glass window and when left in a yard with a normal fence will jump over it.  So he needs someone that will get him on a time schedule, has a big yard with a bigger fence and will have someone with him until he gets over his separation problem.  In addition, he likes to collect lawn ornaments, walk kids to and from their houses to buses and very importantly has developed a dislike for cats.

For more info, please contact Vicki at 859-582-9466 or Email.
